Launch of the ACT Emergency Volunteering Program

We are proud to announce our partnership with Volunteering Queensland to provide Emergency Volunteering CREW to our nation’s capital and bordering areas of NSW.

Over recent years Volunteering Queensland has supported nearly 100 disaster management agencies to source over 30,000 volunteers to assist with recovery efforts in disaster affected communities across Queensland. Today, we are excited to expand this service so that together we can support more Australians when it matters the most.

On Sunday 20 October we released the ACT Emergency Volunteering Program, which is designed to support organisations to find people with certain skills and abilities in order to assist with local ACT disaster recovery efforts, such as the 2003 firestorm.

The launch event featured a jigsaw to show how emergency volunteers help to put the pieces of Canberra back together after a disaster. The program was launched by Simon Corbell MLA, Attorney General and Minister for Police and Emergency Services, and had several other high profile members of the community in attendance.
